Unfiltered Story #362417
(So, my college has this organization that throws parties every Saturday without alcoholic beverages to try to encourage students to not drink in school. It’s always fun, by the student workers are usually rude and don’t care about anything. In this case, the theme was animals and my cousin wanted to do the petting zoo, so we stood in line. While we were in line, I saw this girl holding a ceramic Hippo piggy bank and I wanted one. She told me it was literally in the next room over, so I went to get one.
It took literally less than a minute, but when I went to go stand next to my cousin, she was already in the room. At the time, I did not know this, and I had assumed that she just moved up. Scared that she would worry where I was, I headed to the front of the line, when this happened.)
Worker: Oh, you can’t go in there yet.
Me: *realizing what she thinks I’m doing* Oh! Yeah, sorry, I’m just looking for my cousin. I literally see her in that room. Hey *cousin’s name*!
Cousin: *Doesn’t turn around*
Me: *Flustered and not wanting to make a scene* You know what, I’ll just text her.
Person #1: Do people make up excuses like that a lot to get in the room?
Worker: Well, not often.
Me: *Seriously debating just texting my cousin that I went to paint the hippo in the next room*
(Eventually, I got into the room and I made sure to show the worker my text message history to show her that I wasn’t lying. She didn’t even look at it and seemed to not even care if I was telling the truth or not. This situation did not help with my fear of talking to people at all, and I really don’t want to return to another on campus party after this.)
