Unfiltered Story #362406
I am visiting a friend, who’s 10 year old has Autism and takes things very literally. He is getting himself some ice cream in the kitchen. He comes out a little upset.
Friend “What’s wrong (Son)?”
Son “There’s no teaspoons, I can’t eat ice cream without a teaspoon”
Friend “Look in the dishwasher”, *joking ” there has to be a million teaspoons in there”
Her son comes back clutching a handful of teaspoons, even more upset than before.
Friend “What’s wrong now? You found the teaspoons, why do you have so many?”
Son “You said there were a million teaspoons but all I could find was fourteen of them. I think they’re lost”
Friend “No, no I’m sorry I meant to say fourteen but got a million mixed up. There’s only fourteen”
Son *huge smile “Oh great, they aren’t lost then, I was worried” *skips back to the kitchen.
Friend *to me “Can you smack me over the head every time you hear me over-exaggerate something to him? I keep forgetting that he takes things literally”.
