Unfiltered Story #362310
After moving house, I start at a new school at the beginning of Year 5. I quickly become best friends with a girl who has been at that school for a few years already. One girl in our class who was also good friends with my friend decided she didn’t like me because I’d “stolen her best friend.” The girl left after year 6, but unfortunately for me, the girl’s grandmother worked as a substitute teacher at our school, and was slightly biased about me for the rest of my time there.
A few years later, in our final year of primary school, my best friend and I have gotten accepted into two different selective high schools, meaning we will be separated. We are sad at first, but make a pact to see each other every school holidays during high school.
One day, our teacher is sick, so we have the substitute. In class, my friend and I are sitting next to each other working quietly, when her pencil breaks, so she whispers to me and asks if she can borrow a sharpener, to which I whisper back “sure!” The substitute teacher whips around, yells at me for talking and then tells us, two 12 year olds that were already sad, that she is “glad that we are going to different schools!”
Suffice to say, I had a bit of resentment towards that teacher! But, 5 years later, the girl is still my best friend, we have seen each other multiple times every year since, and next year we are going to the same university!
