Unfiltered Story #361889
Many Chinese names consist of two-character given names and a last name, no middle name like. Sometimes the two characters are writen as one name, sometimes hyphenated, sometimes separately. My dad writes his separately.
Although he got called by his non-legal English name, his teacher made him write his full legal name separated by first, middle, and last. The teacher kept correcting it by splitting up his first name so the second character would be the middle.
My grandparents got called in when the teacher had enough of my dad’s protests. They presented the teacher with my dad’s birth certificate, which clearly shows which names are first, middle, and last.
