My sister lives in a house that she “rents” off my parents, meaning she lives there for minimum rent but never pays it. My parents live elsewhere. She has learned to use guilt on Dad to get him to pay for things. I see Dad paying over the phone for her very overdue electricity bill so the power doesn’t get cut off. I ask Dad why he’s paying it, he says that he can’t have the grand kids living with out power. A couple of days later I am at my sister’s house, she is quite immature and always boasting over things she has and I don’t. This time it’s money.

Sister “I have $30,000 dollars saved up in the bank, I bet you don’t have that”

Me “Didn’t you just tell Dad that you had no money to pay the electricity bill”

Sister “So?”

Me “You had the money to pay it, why didn’t you just pay it?”

Sister “Why should I pay for the electricity?”

Me “Because you use it”

Sister “But this is Dad’s house, he’s supposed to pay for it”

Me “No, you use the electricity, you should pay for it.”

Sister “BUT THIS IS HIS HOUSE AND YOU’RE JUST JEALOUS I HAVE MORE MONEY THAN YOU”

Me “That’s because I PAY my own WAY, I don’t expect Dad to pay my bills”

I knew I would never get through to her so I did the next best thing, I told Dad what she told me. He started refusing to pay for her bills, you should have heard her temper tantrums.
