Unfiltered Story #360737

I’m visiting my parents’ for a minor religious holiday. My sister is also there with her husband and small children. She has three kids, all under four, so I offer to do something with her kids so she can have some time to get some shopping done without the kids. We are making cupcakes. We bake them and fill them, and make the frosting. I pipe the frosting on, and then they put on the sprinkles. I decide to use a star tip for fun, which makes the ridges in the frosting that you commonly see on bakery cupcakes. This is fascinating to my three-year-old nephew.

Nephew (literally squealing with delight): it’s bumpy! Aunt (my name), how did you make it bumpy?

Me: it’s just the tip I used, see?

Nephew: but it’s bumpy!

(NOTE: my sister, his mother, is a semi-professional cake decorator, occasionally doing jobs for weddings, big parties, bar mitzvahs and the like. I really don’t know how this “bumpy” frosting was so extremely novel to him)
