Unfiltered Story #360331

The elementary school I went to as a school had a small Hispanic population, the majority were the children of immigrants and barely spoke English themselves. Naturally they assumed my sister and I were the same, even though we had been at this school going on three years and SEVERAL teachers knew we spoke both English and Spanish, but we were shy in class.
The first time were attended the ESL classes we were confused why we had to go and ‘practice’ our English.
The second time however…
ESL Teacher: Now (My Name) you have to come to class now.
Me: I DON’T WANNA GO! I WANNA READ MY STORIES!
In the hallway my sister was laughing on the floor as I tried to hide from the ESL teacher behind a beanbag chair with a pile of beginners chapter books. My old kindergarten teacher from down the hall had to compose herself and explain that I was an avid reader.
