Unfiltered Story #360312
(I have a fairly unique name. It’s not particularly weird, but not altogether common.)
(One day I was bored and googled my name. A Facebook profile popped up in the search results that took me a second to realize *wasn’t mine*, despite having my name on it. The profile picture was a pop culture reference that I *did* appreciate but nonetheless it was not mine. I signed into Facebook, found this “other me,” and promptly sent them a message. (Note: they had no personal photos posted–just various pop culture things like movies and TV shows). This exchange took place in Messenger over a couple of days).
ME: “*suspicious stare*”
HIM: “*suspicious stare back*”
ME: “So . . . tell me about yourself.”
HIM: “Why?”
ME: “Because until days ago I was under the impression that I was the only [my name] in the world but clearly I’ve been wrong, and if there’s someone else out there with my name I’m very curious to know about them.”
HIM: “Okay.”
ME: “I can start. [Share some broad details about me]. You?”
HIM: *no reply for a few days*
ME: “Sorry if I’m being too forward. It’s just an odd situation for me and I thought it could be fun to know the other [my name].”
HIM: “I live in [state].”
(It’s at this point that some light bulbs turn on in my head and his cool demeanor starts to make sense if something I’m suspecting is true.)
ME: “So . . . what grade are you in?”
HIM: “Sixth.”
ME: *turning pale* “Well that’s awesome. It’s certainly been fun to meet another [my name]! See ya!”
(Correspondence ended after that).
