(I am visiting my mom for a few days. My boyfriend video calls me to show me a guinea pig he got. Since we used to have guinea pigs when I was a kid, I thought mom would like to see her. She is three rooms away tending to her juvenile chickens that are too young to be outside and as they know it’s feeding time, they’re all being incredibly noisy.)

Me: *shouting* Mom, you wanna come see (boyfriend)’s guinea pig?

(No answer)

Me: MOM!

Mom: What?

Me: *yelling still* Do you want to come see (boyfriend)’s guinea pig?!

Mom: (boyfriend)’s duck head?! Gross! What the fuck is wrong with you?!

Me: GUINEA PIG!!!

Mom: *walking into the room* What?!

Me: Guinea pig….

Mom: Ohhh. Sure.
