We live in a small town, there is a bad corner on one of the main accesses out of town. There are always near misses and one house always seems to have cars going through their fence. It would take forever to turn into the street due to the number of cars that speed along the main street. It had been like that for years until one day I see that there’s now a roundabout being put in.

Me *to husband “It’s about time they did something there, the roundabout is going to make it so easy now. I wonder what changed to finally get it done”

Husband “Most probably the fact that (friend) is now the Mayor of (our shire) and living in the next street to us means he was getting stuck like the rest of us.”
