I work for a large company that offers a three-year apprenticeship for small groups of potential programmers. During said period, we are occasionally tasked with small software projects for other departments to get some practical experience. The current project is a simple application that helps manage data in a spreadsheet, when one day we get a call from the comissioning department.

Lady: “Your program has destroyed our data! Someone come over here and fix it!”

One of my colleagues goes to see what the problem is. Once he arrives at the lady’s office, she shows him her spreadsheet with a few records in it.

Lady: “There, see? There used to be more records than that. They suddenly just disappeared.”

My colleague grabs the mouse and scrolls the spreadsheet back to the top, revealing the first few records.

Lady: “Oh, there they are! How did you do that?”
