I adopted a rather pudgy cat years ago. At the time I had two other cats and they both hated him! The pudgy cat wanted to play with them so bad but they never let him. One of the original two ran away so I decided to foster a new calico cat. Calico had lived with other cats so I thought the Pudgy one would finally have a friend. This was their first meeting.

Calico: slowly getting closer to Pudgy sniffing cautiously.

Pudgy: “Mreow” a rolling happy meow that calico immediately Hissed at.

Calico still getting closer slowly.

Pudgy: “Mewro”

Calico: “Hiss!”

Pudgy: “Wrreow”

Calico: “HISSSSS!”

This went on for a while with Pudgy trying to talk, but every time he opened his mouth Calico hissed and flattened her ears. As long as Pudgy kept his mouth shut Calico was friendly. They ended up being sort of friends, but I never knew if it was what he was saying or his breath!
