Unfiltered Story #351274
I am trying to sign up for classes online but keep getting an error message, so I call the number on my admissions letter.
Me: Good morning! I am calling because I am trying to sign up for classes online but it is telling me my user ID is invalid. However, I have my admissions letter here and am typing it correctly.
Receptionist: Ok, well if you go to [website] you can just enter your ID and password there and sign up online!
Me: Yes, I am on the site. However, it is stating my user ID is incorrect.
Receptionist: You just type the user ID in and your password and you can sign up online.
Me: Yes, I know. I’m trying to do that. The ID the school gave me is not working.
Receptionist: Did you want me to make you an appointment to come in? It takes longer than signing up online, though.
Me: No. I want to sign up online. I am on [website] on the login page. I have typed in the ID that the school issued me as well as my password. I am getting an error message saying my ID is invalid. I am trying to sign up for classes online but I am unable to do so.
Receptionist: Oh! You’re trying to sign up online but your ID isn’t working?
Me: Yes.
Receptionist: I’ll transfer you to our IT department.
IT: Thank you for calling [University] IT Department, how can I help you?
Me: I am trying to sign up for classes online and it’s saying my user ID is invalid but I’m copying it exactly as it is listed on my admissions letter.
IT: The way the spreadsheet is set up, it cuts off the first number. Add a zero to the front *click*
It worked but I am very apprehensive of going to a university that doesn’t listen to its students or understand how to format spreadsheets so that every single student doesn’t have their ID cut off. I was able to sign up for classes online, at the website, using my ID and password.
