Unfiltered Story #344513
I’m about 10 years old and have been taking dance lessons at a local gym for last 3 years. My parents worked a lot so I’d often be dropped off by my brother or sister and would walk in by myself. I’m also very tall for my age about 5’5. During our break the entire class and myself walk down to the snack bar, which is directly behind the front desk. I was standing in line and the guy working the front desk, who looked like he was new walks up to me.
Employee: “I’ve seen you come in here and go upstairs every Tuesday night around the same time for a while now.” “Do you have a membership?”
(my family used to have a membership but we’d since cancelled it, but you don’t have to be a member to take dance lessons.)
Me: “No.”
Employee: “Well if you’re not a member you have to pay $5 per visit. “Do you have $5?”
Me: “No.”
(It suddenly dawns on me that he thinks I’m some kind of hoodlum that sneaks in there every Tuesday at 7:00pm to use the facilities for free.)
Me: (Looking him square in the eye with my best “you’ve got to be kidding me look”) “I take dance lessons here.”
( He then looks around at the other girls my age all dressed in dance gear and turns bright red. He manages to squeak out an “Oh” then immediately turns around to face the other way and he never said anything to me after that. My classmates and I continued to stand in line at the snack bar awkwardly giggling at what just happened.)
