Unfiltered Story #343354

(So long explanation for a short story. First off, I was recently officially diagnosed as Autistic and I’m very open about it as knowing why I am the way I am is a HUGE relief. Secondly, before they go out to be shelved, books that are just checked in are organized on carts, adult fiction on one cart, chapter books on another, etc. When you work in the back where the bookdrop is the items checked in go on a cart there until they can get emptied onto the other carts. I always group things as to which cart they go on as I find it makes unloading it easier. I also tend to be faster with checking in than many of my coworkers so several of us have a routine now where I do all the checking in and they unload the cart for me. And this is the set up for our very short story.)

Coworker 1: *unloading the cart for me* “You’re always so organized.”

Me: *without thinking* “It’s the Autism!”

Coworker 2: *starts chuckling and can’t stop*
