(When my mother was pregnant with my younger brother, she wanted to name him “D*ck” after his father, whose nickname was that. English isn’t her first language, so she didn’t know what it meant and thought it’d be cute.)

Me: “Mom, you shouldn’t name him that.”

Mom: “Why?”

Me: “Well, it’s slang for uh, male’s privates, and he’ll be teased.”

Mom: “No!”

(She looked it up and found out that I was telling the truth, but didn’t care. And so that was my brother’s name. Now, he’s 20, and claims he got bullied for it only once or twice, but I’m not sure I believe him.)
