Unfiltered Story #342788

My brother-in-law is a pompous jerk with youngest child syndrome.

He has recently bought a house and had his sister move in to pay rent. They both want a dog. More specifically, a puppy. My husband and I are going on a trip so I suggest that they watch our two-year-old husky mix to see if they are up for a puppy. Overall, [Dog] is great, but high energy so he is like a puppy without being destructive. A perfect test!

Hubby is surprised when BiL agrees, but BiL agrees nevertheless.

It is important to note that my SiL has been pet sitting for the past 17 years, or half her life. She has also watched both my dog, my sister’s dog, and parents’ dog all at once. So, it is an understatement to say she knows what she is doing. Meanwhile, he has watched his ex’s dog for half a day during finals.

Me: “So we should pay [SiL] for watching [Dog].”

Husband: “What about [BiL]? It is his house and he is probably going to be watching the dog for the most part.”

Me: “How do you figure?”

Husband: “Well, his office is downstairs and he works from home three days a week. He is going to see [Dog] most.”

Me: “Yeah… I am going to get [SiL] a bunch of movie passes for watching [Dog].”

Two days later, we are talking to brother-in-law about the trip in less than two weeks when he drops this gem.

BiL: “I hope [SiL] is ready for the dog. I am only going to step in if she cannot handle it. Otherwise it is her responsibility.”

Me: *lowly to Husband* “Sounds about right.”

To say my husband was flabbergasted and unhappy would be an understatement. I, on the other hand, am relieved for the conformation that my dog is in capable hands in comparison to that mansplaining bozo with a god-complex.

Hopefully when SiL gets her dog, BiL doesn’t have any claim over the poor thing.
