(Even though it was from her generation, my mom is not familiar with the band Kansas, and I was the one to introduce her to them. And like many people from my generation, my introduction was Supernatural. I have just shown her the official music video for the infamous ‘Wayward Sons’ song.)

Mom: “Oh, that was pretty cool.”

Me: “Yeah. It’s also kind of a cue that ‘shit’s about to go down’.” Pause. “So, when people use the term ‘hair band’…”

Mom: “Yes.”
