Unfiltered Story #342667

I’m someone who is generally quiet, has a smaller group of friends, is fiercely protective of those friends, and is very private. I am also an atheist, in a school filled to the brim with Christians. This made for some interesting conversation with a known class jerk, [Kid], one day. He was saying something or other bashing LGBT people, and I stood up to him, as my LGBT friends were getting extremely uncomfortable.
Me: “Will you lay off already? I think you’ve gone on long enough. [Friend 1] and [Friend 2] are getting extremely uncomfortable.”
[Kid]: “It’s a sin! Your friends are the work of the devil! Why do you support the comfort of the Devil’s handiwork?”
Me: “Okay, first of all, name exactly in the Bible where the LGBT community is classified as ‘The Devil’s Handiwork’. Second of all, give me one reason that is not related to the Bible for your opinion on these groups.”
[Kid]: “What do you mean, not related to the Bible? What are you, an atheist?”
Me: “Oh, you noticed! First one in two years to realize it without me telling them, congratulations! You win the prize of your Bible related arguments never working against me! Good job!”
To this day, that may be the best thing I have said in my life. When he crumbled, it smelled like sweet, sweet justice.
