Myself and a coworker are talking about an anime we both watch. [Coworker 2] comes into the room part way through the conversation.

Coworker: I think [Character 1] has an ace up his sleeve. How else are they going to win?

Me: Yeah, but [Character 2] is always the one who ends up transforming first. It’s predictable by this point.

Coworker: Maybe they’ll shake things up-

Coworker 2: Well, I’m a ‘gold star gay’!

Myself and Coworker look at each other perplexed.

Me: Ok?

Coworker 2: What? *storming up to me and glaring* You saying you have an problem with gay people?

Me: Not one bit, mate. I just don’t see what that has to do with [Anime].

He throws his arms up and leaves mumbling that “you just can’t reach some people”.

Coworker: That was weird…

Me: Yeah, anyways… *continues conversation*

For the record, we knew he was gay already, so we’re pretty certain it wasn’t a coming out thing.
