After divorcing my mam, my dad remarried and had three more children, My stepmother had two daughters from a previous relationship, who my dad adopted after they married. I got told off by my stepmother one day for referring to them as my ugly stepsisters…I wasn’t being mean, it was because they were being mean and had blamed me for a mess they made, which I was then forced to tidy up. I told my stepmother this.

Stepmother – It’s not that, it’s because you called them “stepsisters” It makes them feel like their not part of the family.

A few weeks later she was talking the the mother of my half-sister, [half-sister name’s] friend.

Stepmother – This is [My Name], [half-sister name’s] Stepsister.

One of many occasions where I am referred to as the stepsister of my half siblings…It’s got to the point where my half siblings think I’m their stepsister.
