Unfiltered Story #342024

This was when i was in 3rd or 4th grade, after recess each of the 4 classes in our grade would line up and the lunch monitors chose the quietest class to go first to line up for lunch. One day the moniters were waiting a lot longer than usual despite everyone being pretty quiet. After about 10 minutes they let the first class in and then the second and the third within a reasonable time. After the third class goes in my class is still waiting and everyone is being stone silent as we are all really hungry and want to go to lunch. The moniters still wait an unreasonable amount of time before letting us into lunch. The entire class is distressed when looking at the clock when we walk to see that lunch is almost over and theres still our entire class to line up and unfortunately for me I’m in the back of the line. We try and go through as fast as possible and as i finally sit down and try to take a bit of hotdog (The only lunch option left) the moniters are telling us to clean up. We can’t take food inside the classrooms so most kids try and eat as fast as they can before they get up. But the hall monitors were really pushing for them to start leaving. I sat stubbornly until the last possible second to try and eat (not very long) as much as i can. But i only managed half a hot dog. Most kids in my class wear either in or near tears because they were hungry but didn’t get to eat a lot or not at all. We all told out teacher who just shrugged and said “Nothing i can do about it today”. Keep in mind we also had a second shorter recess 2 hours later during winter in colorado. Most kids in the class didn’t have enough energy to run or be active and its very cold. We did have a climbing wall that connected to the playground so you could sit behind it and under the playground to shield a little wind and get a bit of body heat. But for some reason they wouldn’t let us sit under there and told us to go play. It was a day full of tears and miserableness. I couldn’t understand why we couldn’t have taken lunch inside the classrooms so we could at least eat properly.
