(My brother has an ex who was really mean to him, among other things she’d berate him when he lost his friend to an illness. They broke up but he still loved and missed her. One day our sister met the ex while shopping.)

Sister: “Oh hey it’s you!”

Ex: “Oh…yeah how’s [Brother] doing?”

Sister: “Oh he’s fine. He has a kid now.”

Ex: “Oh really????”

Sister: “Yes he’s ginger with red hair and about 2 years old now.”

Ex: “huh.”

(They said goodbye and when the ex texted our brother about it, he was confused because he had no kid! Then he realized that she’d been talking about his cat, who was ginger. Ex wasn’t happy to learn she’d been tricked.)
