My coworker is a huge fan of the musical Hamilton. We work at a museum which focuses on colonial military history, so we are big history nerds. Her husband, not so much, but he still indulges her because he’s a sweetheart.

One night we are at a gathering for local museum and tour guides, and inevitably the conversation turns to politics. We’re discussing the logistics of simply starting a revolution, and I say something along the lines of “The workers are going to rise up.”

My coworker looks wordlessly at her husband, and without looking up from his dinner he says “Rise up” the way it’s sung in the musical.

They give me hope for the future of modern relationships.
