Unfiltered Story #339015

(When my mom bought her first house, she repainted all the walls and let me pick the colour of my room. I had the brilliant idea that I wanted to feel like I was ‘sleeping in a forest’, so I picked dark forest green for my walls with a midnight blue ceiling. With only one ceiling light it was, as you can imagine, a very dark room. One day when I’m about 16 my mom has friends over, I’m hanging out in my room playing on my computer, and leave to visit the bathroom. On the way I run into my mom, who gives me a concerned look and takes me off to the side.)

Mom: “[My name]… are you high?”

Me: “What? No…”

Mom: “Oh… well, your pupils are very large…”

Me: “Really?”

(I go into the bathroom and stare at my eyes for a while. I don’t think they’e particularly large, and figure they were big from being in my room, then had readjusted to the light by the time I got to the mirror. I think it’s kind of funny, and once I get back to my room I go back to the forum I had been chatting in.)

Me: *responds to the latest comment, then add…* “So, just left my room, and mom asked if I was high because I had big pupils… heh.”

Forum member: *talks about the main topic, then…* “Oh CrazyWriter, I’m so sorry your mom thought that you were high :(”

(I was actually a bit dumbfounded for a second, before I remembered my mom is a rather ‘liberal/new age’ mom, and has a different take on things than other more ‘typical’ parents. While she would prefer her kids not do do illicit substances such as alcohol or marijuana, she understands that teenagers will be teenagers and if they’re going to do it, she’d rather them do it safely at home rather than some place they could get injured or otherwise. Honestly, I wasn’t at all hurt by my mom’s ‘accusation’, and even if I had been high, I think she would be more upset about me lying about it than the fact that I was actually high. And just FYI, I never did become intoxicated by anything until I was well into legal age)
