Unfiltered Story #339006
At the store I work at I have a colleague who seems to have it in for me. She reports me to the manager for any reason, most of which are a part of my job. Such as reporting me for taking money from the register, my job is to clear excess cash throughout the day. She is quite friendly with the manager who just tells me that I need to learn to get on with her and refuses to see a problem.
One day we get a notice that in future our lockers will be regularly inspected and that we are to leave them unlocked when we aren’t on duty. Any stock items found will be classed as attempted theft. My padlock had disappeared so I had been leaving my bag in the office until I was able to get a new one. Lockers that aren’t assigned to staff are often used to store out of season stock.
We are due for a visit, I come in on my day off to help with any last minute items.
Manager “(My name) don’t put your bag in the office today, please put it in your locker. Oh, by the way, I put the jacket you left behind in there yesterday.”
Me “Okay” *Opens my locker “Ugh, (Manager) can you look at this?” My locker is stuffed completely with stock “I wonder who did this?”
We both notice Co-worker who had been pouring herself a coffee suddenly leave the area.
Manager *gives me a look “Oh you can’t think the worse, (Co-worker) must have made a simple mistake, I asked her to put those items somewhere safe yesterday evening. She obviously mistook your locker for one of the unused ones because it’s always empty”.
Yes, the locker that everyone knew as mine, had my name in big writing on the door, contained my jacket, which was moved so it covered the stock. I suppose it was easy to make the mistake. I quickly bought a new padlock and put the spare key in the safe for future inspections.
Not long after the manager caught Co-worker out on one of her lies about me. She threw a tantrum and quit on the spot because of the favouritism I got. She had stated she’d come in as a customer and saw me doing something I shouldn’t have been doing the day before. I had taken that day off and my manager had covered for me.
Manager *a week later “Oh this has been the calmest week ever. You know I’m just starting to believe that (Co-worker) was the cause of all of the problems”.
