Unfiltered Story #337038
My father and I work Chess tournaments together. This happens in one of the last tables still playing before lunch.
Each player on a single board have a clock. If that time runs out, that player forfeits the game. A player is disputing the early end of his game because both players clocks have run out time which equates a draw, and he claims to not know how to read this older model time clock. I reminded my father that he had shown everyone how to read these clocks at the start of the tournament. He decides against the player. We are also fans of the older Karate Kid movie series.
Later, at lunch:
Me: No regrets. No remorse. No mercy….Mercy is for the weak.
Father: We do not train to be merciful.
Me: If a man faces you, he is the enemy.
Father: An enemy deserves no mercy.
