(I’m a preschool teacher to 4- and 5-year-olds who are getting ready to go to kindergarten next year. We got a new student this morning and, as he’s freaking out a little at the noise level on his first day of school, I decide to take him for a walk through the halls and get to know him better.)

Me: So what kinds of things do you like learning about?

Student: Scary things!

Me: Scary things?! Like zombies?! *many of the kids in my class love playing zombies*

Student: No! Like Freddy!! *mimes his long finger blades*

Me: ….

Student: And Jason!!

Me: Wow…. that’s super cool.

(He’s actually a great kid, and I think I’m gonna like him.)
