Unfiltered Story #32432

Las Vegas, NV, USA | Unfiltered | July 27, 2016

(My friend and I are in the cafeteria where she is about to pay for her meal while I’m off standing to the side quietly looking at the menu. Ultimately, I decide not buying anything and wait to get home for dinner after my last class. I listen as my friend tries to look for change in her coin pouch. I should also note that she and I are of Filipino descent.)

Friend: *Talking to cashier while counting her change* I’m sorry, I’m bad at math.

Me: *without even thinking* But you’re Asian.

Cue my friend and the cashier doubling over and laughing.

(While my friend did commend me for at least having the bravery to say that, I would still be cautious about using similar jokes when other people are around especially if they don’t know you well.)
