(I’m in my Spanish class. The class was going up to write something on the white board and one answer required the # symbol. A brunette girl goes up.)
Classmate: “What do I write?”
Teacher: “The pound symbol.”
Classmate: “What?”
Teacher: “Pound.”
Classmate: “I know. What’s that?”
Teacher: “The number symbol.”
Classmate: “What does it look like?”
Teacher: “Hashtag.”
Classmate: “Oh. What didn’t you say so?”
(To be honest, I didn’t know it was called pound. I always referred it to as the number symbol.)
