Unfiltered Story #314780

The omnicorn variant is currently surging and we have two employees out with it. Neither of them are vaccinated. One of them, [Coworker #1] a VP, has already had a COVID variant over Thanksgiving 2020 and came back acting like the whole shebang was over because SHE had COVID while refusing to actually admit to anyone she was infected. That is all that mattered, right? That she couldn’t get COVID again? It should go without saying, but she was not pleased when I refused to take off both of my masks whenever she entered the room.

I decide to run an (anonymous) survey to determine how we all feel about COVID protocols at our company with the new infections. Surprisingly, only one person feels we are doing a wonderful job. So I instate new protocols on top of our old ones and re-highlighted wearing masks. At the same time, my dad ends up with the rona, despite being boosted.

Coworker #2 texts us to let us know she will be working from home as one of her roommates was sent home due to possible exposure. Both of her roommates work in retail so she has been extra careful.

I, not a bottomless piece of sh*t, send her back a note telling her everything is fine and hope everything is right. Later Coworker #2 texts me, privately.

Coworker #2: [Coworker #1] texted me this morning.

Me: Please tell me it was to ask how you were doing or with well-wishes for your roommates.

Coworker #2: Actually she didn’t mention it at all. She told me to send an email with my work schedule and told me she wasn’t supposed to be working today but is because she is a busy bee.

Me: *internally rolling my eyes* What a hard life she must lead.

I suppose the upside is that omnicorn is now vanquished and no longer exists… Until it does.
