Unfiltered Story #314728

I am sitting in the middle of a large train station on the East Coast of the United States. I am on my way back home from a brief vacation. I am just minding my own business catching up on some work on my laptop. I am a freelance journalist.

After a few minutes, a random woman sits down next to me. I don’t think much of it. All of sudden she taps me on the shoulder.

Woman: Excuse me? Do you have any cash on you?
Me: I’m sorry. I don’t.
Woman: Are you sure? I really need it.
Me: Yes. I’m afraid I don’t have any cash.

I think that’s the end of it, but she then suddenly shoves her phone right in front of my screen. I glance down and see a local news broadcast talking about a fire in an apartment complex. I don’t recall if anybody died or even how much damage there was. However, I could tell that it was clearly important to this woman.

Woman: Do you see this? *spouts off some length nonsense about local politics and journalism*

The woman then got up and walked up the stairs onto the platforms. A few moments later, I see her being led down in handcuffs by two police officers. I had to catch my train soon after, so I never found out what became of this woman. Drugs maybe?
