Unfiltered Story #313359
My family has ordered food online from a restaurant that has a drive thru. (It is not just a super cheap fast food place, though.) You have to give a name with your order that is supposed to confirm that it goes to the right person. My mother goes to pick up the food, and later calls my dad and I, crying, to tell us what happened.
She arrived at the restaurant to pick the food up, and was told that our whole order had been given to someone else. This was upsetting, considering it had already been paid for when we ordered online.
So my mother talked to the manager, who asked the employee at the window if she remembered my mother coming to pick up the food already, and the employee said she did remember giving the food away to my mom, or at least someone with the same name. However, there was no order left for my mother with the same name, as there would be if two orders were placed for the same name and someone who came before us was given our order accidentally.
My mother left the drive thru and went inside the store to sort this out and try to either get the food we paid for or get a refund. The manager refused to compensate us in any way, which caused my mother to raise her voice at him before giving up and leaving the restaurant. The employees then locked the door behind her (while there were still customers in the store), as if she had been violent or unreasonable, which she hadn’t.
There was nothing my mother could do at that point, so she gave up and drove away. This encounter left us with 30 or more dollars gone and nothing to show for it except for a crying mother. We haven’t eaten from this restaurant since.
