My family and I are spending a summer day at a lake. I am reapplying sunscreen on my toddler and am having her cool down in the tent we have set up since she’s been playing in the water for awhile. The sunscreen we use is a mineral based one so it doesn’t rub in as well as a chemical based one.

Mother-in-law: You sure are applying an awful lot of sunscreen on her.

Me: Just trying to keep her from getting burned.

Mother-in-law: (rolling her eyes) You’re applying way too much, way too often. You’re wasting money.

Me: I’ve got this managed, thanks.

Guess who ended up getting sunburned at the end of the day and who didn’t.
