Unfiltered Story #312636
It was the first day of fourth grade, and our new English teacher introduced herself and spelled out her last name, a seemingly endless collection of letters.
As with most fourth grade English classes, we had weekly spelling tests. At the end of the first weeks spelling test, she announced a surprise extra word- her last name. None of us got it right. The next week, as we completed the spelling test, she once again gave her last name as one of the spelling words. Only a few kids got it right.
The next week, many of us were catching on and were not surprised by her name being on the spelling test. By the end of the first month, all the kids in the class knew exactly how to spell her last name.
Over thirty years have gone by since I was in her class by I still remember what a great teacher she was. Thank you Mrs. C-I-E-S-I-E-L-S-K-I, Ciesielski!
