(This took place in 2016. I was visiting a friend who’s taking the same degree as me and lives in another city to where my university is located. She’s showing me around.)
Me: (as a way to break the ice) So how many people live in [City]?
Her: (in a tone that suggested she was surprised why I thought she would know) I don’t know!
Me: How do you not know?
Her: Well, do YOU know how many people live in [My City]?
Me: (without missing a beat) Three hundred and fifty thousand…
(The degree in question was a Bachelor’s in Human Geography.)
