(My wife is Jewish and I was not raised that way but I’m happy to learn about and share her customs. This year, we couldn’t find menorah candles so we used tea lights.)
Me: “Do you need me to get more tea lights? I saw you opened the small package.”
Wife: “No, we have plenty, those were just the kosher ones. They said kosher for Eloheinu or Elijah or something.”
Me: “Oh, I didn’t know that was a thing.”
Wife: “Why do you think the Germans wanted all our candlesticks? You don’t own candlesticks unless you use a lot of candles. I’m going to make coffee now.
