Unfiltered Story #312486

Stuart smokes so much he isn’t even a functional person anymore. He has his own flat but only because his parents paid him to move out and the government hand outs pay his bills.
I’ve long since cut him out of my life and all but forgotten about him, aside from the occasional update from mutual friends.

Then I see a post online, he’s asking for free furniture. Making out that he has fallen in hard times, kicked out, got nothing etc.
I happen to know that this isn’t true and half his furniture has been on fire from him smoking on it and passing out.
The other half more than likely smashed up, (if the holes in his walls are anything to go by. )

I ignore the post, only for a few days later. Get told about an elderly relative moving into a retirement home and none of the local charity shops would take their furniture.

Win-win right? I message him.

Me: hey, still need furniture?

Stuart: depends , what you got?

Me: coffee table, tv unit , various drawers.

Stuart: what did they look like?

Me: pretty basic, old but good conditon. Like a fake dark wood. You want them?

Stuart: I don’t know, if wanted something more modern.

Me: whatever, you have until the end of the week to collect them from (area) they will go to landfill.

(Few days later no response. End of the week comes and goes. )

Stuart: hey, tried to collect then but noone was there. Do you still have then?

Me: how did you try to collect? I didn’t give you the address?

Stuart: oh my bad lol, do you still have the furniture?

(I check, they havn’t gone yet.)

Me: yes, when can you collect?

Stuart: I don’t know.

Me: they need to be gone by Friday, can you collect by then?

Stuart: yes.

Me: what day then?

Stuart: I don’t know.

Me: …well, figure that out. And let me know.

(I get no response, eventually the furniture gets broken up and taken to the tip. A month later Stuart messages a load of us in a group chat.)

Stuart: hey, anyone got a van I can drive. Need to pick up some furniture from (area i posted).
