One day, I am woken up by my girlfriend calling. When I answer, she tells me that she’s in the hospital. She has been sick and vomiting for the last couple of days, and when she last called the nurse help line, they recommended she go to the ER. By the time she calls me, she had been admitted by a few hours, and informed me that she was waiting for them to ‘send in a camera’ to check out a ‘blockage in my digestive system’. Having recently had a colonoscopy myself I commiserated with her, we chatted for a while, and I don’t hear from her again until later that night.

Around 9pm, she calls again, and we just chat for a while. Eventually, she mentions she’s ‘not scheduled for surgery until tomorrow’.

Wait. Surgery?

Yes, surgery.

But I thought they were just sending in a camera?

Yes, they use cameras in surgery too.

Yeah, but you just said ‘sending in a camera’! There’s a lot of holes you can send a camera in without having to cut new ones!

Well, it’s surgery with a camera.

THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO KNOW A FEW HOURS AGO! Before I was just concerned, now I’m f****** worried!
