Unfiltered Story #312418
So to set the scene.
My late wife was diagnosed with leukemia in 2008 and we went through hell with all the chemo etc. My medical aid was brilliant during this whole process though. She was in full remission for almost a year until she relapsed and passed away in 2009.
After the funeral the families congregated at my house for some tea and just to de-stress.
Queue my landline ringing and its a girl from the medical aid. “I have great news for you sir. Your wife’s bone marrow transplant has been approved and the search for donors will begin on monday” (this was a friday).
You could HEAR the horror in her voice when I had to inform her that we had literally just come back from the funeral. She felt SO bad. But in a strange way it lifted all our spirits as this would have been JUST the kind of snarky joke my wife would have LOVED.
I did go on the medical aid website and leave the poor girl a great review.
