Unfiltered Story #312412

(Growing up, my dad insisted that one specific gas company that advertises its additives was the only safe place to buy gas. I started driving and learned that there were multiple safe places to buy gas. I am now visiting my disabled mother, and she needs me to drive her to errands. We go to a grocery store with a gas station that I like because I have a gas discount card.)
Me: “Do you mind if I get gas before we go home?”
Mom: “Is it safe to get gas here? It’s not [dad’s favorite company].”
Me: “I don’t think they’d be allowed to be in business for so many years if they sold bad gas, or at least my car would have had problems.”
Mom: “Well, one time your dad got gas somewhere that wasn’t [company] and his spark plugs needed to be replaced! And I wanted to introduce you to my neighbor who works at [company]. I can pay.”
Me: “Ok, I’ll go to [company].”
(Then, as we left the parking lot, my mom had the audacity to ask why I wasn’t getting gas at the store.)
