My boyfriend tends to fall asleep much faster than I do, and on this particular occasion he had worked a very early shift so he is extra tired. It is the night before our anniversary, and as I roll over in bed I accidentally wake him up a little. He asks if I’m okay, which I answer in the affirmative, and then add:

Me: “I think it’s past midnight. Happy Anniversary!”
Boyfriend (in a very small, very sleepy voice): “Happy birthday.”
