Unfiltered Story #300989

I was talking to a colleague whose wife taught an intro to computing class back in the mid 80’s. He told me this story:

“My wife came to class the first night of the semester and there was a tech guy who was just finishing up modifying the computers in the classroom. He told my wife the all the computers had hard drives in them now. She won’t have to use the floppy disk drive anymore.”

So far, so good.

“He told her to use the C drive, not the A drive from now on. My wife always had the students bring a blank floppy disk to class and she taught them how to format the disk.”

Oh, no! I could see where this was headed.

“So she had the whole class format the C drive at the same time. Can you believe the tech didn’t warn her?”

I managed to keep a straight face during this, but I also was thinking “was the tech privy to her lesson plan?” And also, “she’s the teacher for a computer use class; she’s supposed to know these things… or at least ask if there’s doubt.”
