My colleague is a bit shy and although opening up to me, he is still very reserved to others. He also has a new kitten that he let attack his fist. I’m told I come across as stern and unapproachable (I’m a total softie) and we have a new intern. I explain a task to her.

Me: so if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. (seeing she is a bit intimidated, I jokingly add:) I’m yet to bite a colleague, right (shy colleague)?
Shy colleague (studying his scratched hand and arm, pensively): I guess.
