Unfiltered Story #299837

I work for a small company with five employees. I have a coworker, Coworker #1, who was married to a WestPoint graduate, but had a nasty divorce. As a result, she thinks we shouldn’t have any holidays celebrating veterans – Memorial Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day. Of course, that doesn’t stop her from taking them off herself.

Fed-up I finally get permission to take these three holidays off from our boss, who also happens to be a professor. There is some debate on if we actually get Memorial Day off.

Coworker #2: We don’t get Memorial Day off.

Me: Well we do now. It is on the calendar and it is the first holiday all year.

Coworker #2: That isn’t what [Coworker #1] said.

Me: She is getting it off anyway so take it off.

Coworker #2: She said we don’t get it off because it is a [University] holiday, so we have to be here for boss.

Me: *fed-up* No. That is not the reason she won’t let you have it off. She just hates veterans. Take it off or don’t but it is your right.

I probably shouldn’t have said that but stop lying to make yourself look good!
