Unfiltered Story #299056

(As many people do, I manage to trip over a stair in the doorway as I walk into a store. Unlike most people, I do not catch myself immediately, and have to grab onto the salescounter to keep from falling flat on my face. Embarrassingly, this means that I am now eye-to-eye with the Salesclerk, and she cannot pretend that she just didn’t notice.)

Salesclerk: *already cringing* Um. Are you alright ma’am.
Me: Well, I can read, but I guess I do not comprehend. But that was probably a pre-existing condition.
(The salesclerk’s mouth drops open.)
Me: Most people miss the sign entirely, don’t they?
