Unfiltered Story #289085
I’ve just arrived to do some shopping. I grabbed a buggy (shopping cart) and am wiping it down with the provided cleaning products when the following happens:
Random Customer: Where’s the (blah, blah whatever)?
Me: (shrugs) I dunno.
RC: Well, the sign outside said… (continues)
Me: (Looking at my clothes, making absolutely sure I’m not wearing the store’s colors. I’m not.) Lady, I don’t work here.
RC: (Blinks, confused) Huh?
Me: (Firmly) I. Don’t. Work. Here.
RC: (Haughty, sneering) Well, then, why are you cleaning that buggy? Are you volunteering?
Me: (Done with her attitude) No. I don’t want to get sick.
RC: (Harrumphs and turns away, yelling for an employee)
After I made my escape, I saw someone wearing a vest from yet another store. I warned them about RC, and they ripped off the vest and stuffed it into their bag.
I should note that, in my area, attitudes about masking and sanitizing are pretty indifferent. Yes, I was wearing a mask.
