Unfiltered Story #288400
*I am working the front desk this morning, which includes answering phones. The phone rings shortly before we close for lunch*
Me: “[Vet clinic], this is [my name].”
Caller: “Hello, this is [name I don’t recognize]. I called and left a message about an [online pet supply company] order in the wee hours of the morning and I was wondering if you got my message.”
*I received no such message. There’s wasn’t even an ampty message on the answering machine*
Me: “What’s going on?”
Caller: “Well [online supplier] left my order on my porch the other day, in the sun, and they’re not supposed to do that! I went online and was told it’s actually very common for [online supplier] to leave orders like that, with no knock or anything. There were very specific instructions!”
*Note: this supplier ships with FedEx, so it’s not actually the supplier at fault here. Even if it was, though, we are not in any way affiliated with [online supplier] and cannot address customer service issues with their company.*
Me: “Ma’am, this is not [online supplier].”
Caller: “I know that!”
Me: “This is [vet clinic].”
Caller: “Yes, and I’m trying to contact my veterinarian, Dr. [name I’ve never heard of]”
Me: “Ma’am, you’ve reached [my clinic]. There is no one here by that name.”
Caller: “Dr. [other vet] isn’t there?”
Me: “No, there has never been a Dr. [other vet] here; we have Dr. [my boss].”
Caller: “But I left you a message for Dr. [other vet] at 2:00 this morning. Didn’t you hear the phone ringing?”
Me: “Ma’am, I’m sorry, but you have the wrong number. I did not get a message from you.”
Caller: “Well, I’m using my old contacts list, so how do I reach [other vet]?”
Me: “I don’t know who that is, so I really can’t help you contact them.”
Caller *grumpily*: “Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to call the other number I have for them.” *hangs up*
*I have no idea why this lady thought her veterinarian should be called over a customer service issue with another company, and I REALLY have no idea why she thought I would be in the clinic at 2 AM to listen to her leaving a message. Even if we were a 24-hour clinic, 11:20 AM is not the overnight shift.*
