Unfiltered Story #287339
(I’m in a small corner store that does not have uniforms. There is a customer at the register. Person A goes behind the register to ring up his purchases. Person B goes to stand next to Person A, just outside the register. He’s not standing in line behind the customer, so I took him for a shop assistant.
I go up to the register to ask for an item. Person B turns to me with a questioning look.)
Person B: Do you need anything?
Me: Hi, can I get (item)?
Person B: Oh, for that you’ll have to ask the staff. (He gestures towards Person A)
Me (confused): Aren’t you the staff?
Person B: No, he is. (Steps up to the register to pay for his item)
Me: (Puzzled) Well, then, why did you ask if I needed anything?
