(I’ve been at my college dorm room for a week now, and my roommate has just arrived. I’ve had previous interactions with him, and didn’t particularly like him. I’m texting my long distance boyfriend, who doesn’t have a roommate this semester.)
Me: My roommate just got here. A week of solitary bliss just ended.

Boyfriend: At least there was one!

Me: Yup! Be warned, I may hitchhike to Ohio to become your roommate if this ends badly.

Boyfriend: Aw, give it a day!

Me: I wouldn’t even have to use the extra bed! But yes, I will give him a chance.
